Official Start of Hurricane Zachary Exercise

It is now 9AM on Tuesday October 29.  This is the official start of the Hurricane Zachary Supply Chain Resilience Exercise.

It has been one year since Sandy came ashore.  She was less than hurricane by the time of landfall.

The first phase of the exercise begins just as Hurricane Zachary makes landfall.  This phase will continue through the hurricane's eye closing in on Washington DC.

As the scenario unfolds, please post your questions, concerns, and actions to the comment function for each posting.  You will probably not have time to respond to all postings.  Select those issues of most relevance to your supply chain or function.

Please give particular attention to reporting on:
  • What you are doing
  • What you are NOT doing, that you would do on a normal business day
  • What are your priorities and how the actions of others influence those priorities
Please monitor comments by others.  Do the actions of others in the supply chain influence your options?

Please give particular attention to actions taken by electric utilities and/or the public sector.  How do their actions influence the capacity and capability of the supply chain?

Please highlight problems, especially problems that impact the strategic capacity of your supply chain.  By strategic capacity, we mean the resources and systems on which the fundamental operations of the supply chain depend.

During this first phase, what interdependencies seem to be most helpful?  Most complicating?
